The Stare
“If looks could kill” is the expression but it felt more like
“If looks could execute a person in the slowest, most painful way possible” and it made me shudder.
Had I been a large tropical slug nudging up suggestively against her purple silk Jimmy Choo she couldn’t have shown me more loathing.
The make-over must have cost her new Wall-Street-wealthy husband a fortune but I could still see past it to the under-age prostitute I’d arrested back home.
“Hi Talulah” was all I’d said. It had been enough.

Tried something different; not sure I like it.
Her anticipation was almost unbearable. Did she look too eager? She fidgeted, worrying about her hair, her makeup, her breast. Would it all be accepted, admired? Would the reaction mimic the dream she had had a thousand times over? She shifted her body to be more seductive, trying new poses until she felt movie-esque. The moment was surreal, washed out; an old black and white flickering to life on the screen. She waited doe eyed and expectant. She thought of the engagement and her lips parted slightly, imagining the tasty tingle of a first kiss; her first girl kiss.

I think you pegged the pre-date jitters and utilized the chiaroscuro of the photo to great effect! I remember trying on faces and poses. Nicely done, Jenn! I really like it.

Wonderful! Love the phrase 'tasty tingle' and the black-and-white movie reference. The way you built it up – her anticipation became ours – those final four words – wow! Different is working for you, chica! 🙂
