This week’s photo is mine, taken earlier in the spring while I worked with my set/prop class on our production of Arsenic and Old Lace. One of the things we had to make was a dead body – specifically, the body of poor, recently poisoned Mr. Hoskins.

At the time this photo was taken, Mr. Hoskins was almost ready for his debut, but not quite. We hadn’t quite decided how we were going to fit his head (originally used as the severed head for Macbeth the previous year) onto his shoulders.

While we were discussing the merits of duct tape and other methods for a fixing to head to a corpses shoulders, I snapped this photo. Mr. Hoskins looked so patient with the entire ordeal, and so underwhelmed by the absurdity of it all, that his pose just seemed to encapsulate his entire situation.

This ended up being one of my favorite photos from the entire production, hence this VisDare, and the title.🙃

So – this weeks challenge: give Mr. Hoskins his own story. It doesn’t have to be connected to Arsenic and Old Lace – or it can, if you’d like. Or he could be another headless corpse whose noggin is in danger of rolling away on its own adventure. Your choice! 150 words, one week, your voice.  Post entries in the comments. Happy writing…!
